How to Listen to the Australian Open (AO)

12 January 2024

The Australian Open Grand Slam live across VAR!

The Australian Open (AO) is returning to Melbourne Park in 2024. Once again, our valued radio audience right across Australia will be able to hear the action in partnership with AO Radio, as we simulcast the tournament from 14 January to 28 January.

All Rod Laver Arena matches, plus regular score updates from the outside courts, will be broadcast across Vision Australia Radio network along with news, player interviews and more, directly from the presenting team at AO Radio.

AO Radio has a great range of programming alongside the matches they cover, so tune in anytime if you’re a passionate tennis fan, to be entertained across the tournament.

How to hear all the action daily from Melbourne Park

  • Adelaide: IRIS Digital Radio Adelaide from beginning of play until the end of play.
  • Melbourne: IRIS Digital Radio Melbourne from beginning of play until the end of play.
  • Perth: IRIS Digital Radio Perth from beginning of play until the end of play.
  • Darwin: VAR Digital Radio Darwin from 5.30 pm local time

Outside of the above mentioned time slots, you will be able to hear all our regular programming, and programs taking a break will immediately resume following the Tennis on 29 January.

For those tuning in to Vision Australia Radio across the country for the first time, we welcome you to our service and we hope you will consider listening to our diverse programming outside of our Australian Open broadcasts.

The Vision Australia Radio Network operates to address the information needs of people who are blind, have low vision, or a print disability.

500+ volunteers keep the service going strong, across 16 radio services nationwide, with AM radio services in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, seven services in Regional Victoria. There are also seven digital radio services.

Special thanks to Dale Simpson, Vision Australia Radio Broadcast Systems Technician, and wife Tammy Simpson, who both work tirelessly each year to nurture and grow our relationship with AO Radio and to ensure all runs smoothly from a technical perspective sometimes until the early hours of the morning when the big names slog it on Centre Court.

We also thank Tennis Australia, and the people behind AO Radio for their ongoing support of this now annual broadcast partnership.
